Configuration Co is a non-for-profit contemporary dance company based in Brookvale, Sydney. At its heart, the company exists to open doors and create meaningful opportunities for dance artists across Australia.

Innovatively structured across two tiers—the Configuration Trainee Program and Configuration Company—it brings together young pre-professional dancers and established dance artists to explore, collaborate, and create through movement research, improvisation, and choreographic play. This approach of placing dancers in training alongside professional artists in the same creative space is a rare and distinctive experience, fostering mentorship, exchange, and artistic growth for all involved.

With a focus on dynamic and captivating forms, Configuration has create many new contemporary dance works for the stage and in 2025 proudly premiered its first movement film.

Founded in 2020 by Katya Gray and Mandi Whittaker, Configuration continues to be guided by their leadership, working at the forefront of sustaining the company’s vision and creative life.
